ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: More than 8,000 children from 0 to 10 years of age have been diagnosed with COVID-19 in the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) since the beginning of the pandemic, according to the District Health Officer (DHO) Islamabad Zaeem Zia.

Sharing the data of COVID-19 infected children aged from 0 to 10 years, Zaeem Zia told that by March 26, a total of 8,034 children age had been diagnosed with the virus in Islamabad.

The data revealed that since the outset, 16,957 people aged from 11 to 20 years had been infected by COVID-19 in Islamabad, 22,366 people from 21 to 30 years of age, 23,769 people from 31 to 45 years of age, 11,697 people from 46 to 60 years of age, 4,213 people from 61 to 80 years of age, and 358 people of above 81 years of age.

The DHO Islamabad further told that the ICT recorded 856 Coronavirus Cases on March 28 with a positivity ratio of 16.20%, and that was the highest number since the COVID-19 outbreak hit the Capital.

Meanwhile, DHA-2, Soan Garden, PWD, Bara Kahu, and some areas of G-6, G-10, and G-8 Sectors in Islamabad have been declared COVID-​19 hotspots, and a full lockdown is being enforced there.

The data revealed that last week from March 21 to 27, 185 Coronavirus Cases emerged in DHA-2, 83 in G-6/2, 74 in Soan Garden, 63 in PWD, and 62 in Bhara Kahu.

As per the notification issued on March 28, all kinds of indoor and outdoor events, gatherings, indoor & outdoor festivals, sports tournaments, culture activities, social activities, religious gatherings, etc have been banned in Islamabad from April 1.

So far a total of 56,450 COVID-19 Cases have been registered while 562 patients have died in the ICT.
