RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: The Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has gratitude to the Chinese government for providing the first batch of Sinopharm vaccine against COVID-19 on behalf of the Pakistani government and people.

Talking to media at Noor Khan Airbase in Rawalpindi on Monday, the foreign minister also thanked the Chinese President Xi Jinping and the State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi for China’s befitting gesture that once again demonstrated that it stood by Pakistani people in the hour of need.

Qureshi said that the friendship between Pakistan and China is people-centric, making the bond stronger.

The foreign minister said that another vaccine with joint cooperation of Pakistan and China has successfully passed initial trials. He said that the success of the anti-COVID vaccine will be great news for Pakistan.

Meanwhile, the Punjab Health Minister Dr. Yasmin Rashid said that Punjab has received the first batch of 70,000 doses of the Coronavirus vaccine.

While addressing a Press Conference in Lahore, the minister said that the process of administration of the Coronavirus vaccine will be started from Wednesday.

The provincial health minister said that the Coronavirus vaccine will be administered to frontline health workers in phase one. She said that it will be followed by vaccination for the elderly over 65 years of age.

Dr. Yasmin Rashid said that 189 Vaccination Centers have been established in Punjab for this purpose.
