LAHORE, Pakistan: The Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar has announced to launch a vaccination drive across the province next month to protect children against typhoid.

In a statement on Wednesday, Usman Buzdar said that the “Typhoid Conjugate Vaccine” drive will be launched in Punjab from February 1 to 15, 2021 as per the guidelines of the World Health Organization (WHO).

Under the drive, children from 9 months to 15 years of age would be vaccinated across Punjab to protect them from contagious infection.

The Chief Minister said that in 2017, 63% of typhoid cases and 70% of typhoid deaths in Pakistan were among children younger than 15 years of age.
