EducationReopening of Educational Institutions: Health & Education Ministers Review COVID-19 Situation

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: In a bid to review the Coronavirus situation prior to the reopening of Educational Institutions throughout the Country, a High-level Meeting is underway at the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) in Islamabad on Friday morning.

The phase-wise reopening of educational institutions across the Country will begin on January 18.

However, since the COVID-19 pandemic is yet prevailing in the Country and in the last 24 hours, 2,417 more infections were recorded while 45 deaths occurred, an in-depth review of the situation was being conducted today.

The meeting is being held with the Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training Shafqat Mahmood in the Chair while the Provincial Education and Health Ministers are also participating as attendees.

Following the NCOC meeting, the Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood will address a Press Conference and announce the decisions taken in the meeting.

In a Twitter message, Shafqat Mahmood said that he desperately wants education to continue but the final decision will be on health grounds.

The education minister said that the wellbeing of students will always be a priority.

Education and Health Ministers meeting again tomorrow to review the coronavirus situation before students start coming to school. While I desperately want education to continue the final decision will be on health grounds. Students wellbeing will always be a priority,” Shafqat Mahmood said.
