QUETTA, Pakistan: Prime Minister Imran Khan met the Balochistan leadership in Quetta on Saturday and took stock of the security situation in the province.

His meeting with the Governor Balochistan Amanullah Khan Yasinzai, the Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan, and the Commander Southern Command, Lt. General Sarfraz Ali took place shortly after he arrived in Quetta on a day-long visit.

The prime minister was received at the airport by the Balochistan Chief Minister, Provincial Ministers, and other High Ranking Officials.

Imran Khan was accompanied by the Federal Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed and the Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Baltistan Ali Amin Gandapur.

The visit by the prime minister to Quetta was part of an understanding reached with the Shia Hazara Community which paved the way to bring an end to days-long sit-in against the execution of 11 Coal Miners in Mach.

During his stay in Quetta, the prime minister will meet the bereaved families of the martyrs of the tragic Mach incident.

The prime minister will also chair a high-level meeting in which the aftermath of the Mach incident and the collective law and order situation of the province will be reviewed.

Earlier in the day, the funeral prayers of martyrs of the Mach attack were offered, and later they were buried at Hazara graveyard in Quetta.

The Deputy Speaker National Assembly Qasim Khan Suri, the Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on Overseas Pakistanis Zulfiqar Abbas Bukhari, the Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Ali Haider Zaidi, the Provincial Ministers, and leaders of different political parties also attended the funeral prayers.
