ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Further 89 people suffering from Coronavirus succumbed to the disease across the Country in the last 24 hours, the highest fatalities recorded in a day since July 5.

Of them, 41 COVID patients died each in Punjab and Sindh, 6 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), and 1 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) on December 7.

Additionally, 2,885 more people tested positive in the Country in the last 24 hours with a positivity ratio of 8.58%.

The highest positivity ratio was observed in Karachi at 21.80% followed by Mirpur 18.31% and Muzaffarabad 16.00%.

The positivity ratio in various Federating Units is as: AJK 9.77%, Balochistan is 8.68%, Gilgit-Baltistan 2.78%, Islamabad 4.88%, KPK is 9.67%, Punjab 4.00% and Sindh 13.87%.

To date, 423,179 people have contracted Coronavirus in Pakistan and 8,487 have died of it since February 26, 2020 when the first infection surfaced in the Country.

In addition, 370,474 infected persons have recovered now.

Of the 44,218 people still battling the virus across Pakistan, 2,486 are in critical condition and the number of critical patients is rising fast.
