ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan has strongly condemned the recent missile and drone strikes by Houthis on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which is a violation of the Kingdom’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

“We commend how Saudi Arabia’s successful defensive actions prevented the loss of many innocent civilian lives. Pakistan expresses full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and supports the Kingdom’s right to defend itself against aggression,” the Foreign Office Spokesperson Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri said on Tuesday.

The Spokesperson said that Pakistan has consistently urged all parties to the conflict in Yemen to engage in a meaningful and peaceful dialogue to end the hostilities in line with the UN Security Council Resolution 2216.

In this regard, we appreciate the positive step taken by the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen, when it unilaterally declared a ceasefire earlier this year.

It is, however, regrettable that this step was not reciprocated positively.

It is, however, regrettable that this step was not reciprocated positively. Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri said that Pakistan expresses deep concern at the recent escalation of conflict in Yemen as the city of Marib is threatened by the Houthi militias. The Foreign Office Spokesperson said that we believe that if military conflict engulfs Marib, it will result in a serious humanitarian catastrophe. This will further compound the existing precarious humanitarian situation in the country that has already seen countless deaths and injuries, and millions displaced, he added. “We urge all parties to the conflict in Yemen, in particular the Houthis, to cease military actions, engage in a serious dialogue to end the conflict on the basis of the relevant UN Security Council resolutions, and respond positively to the proposals made by Martin Griffith, the United Nation's Special Envoy to Yemen,” he said. The Spokesperson further said that Pakistan believes that war serves no purpose, and all issues can be resolved through peaceful dialogue. He added that adopting this path early will save thousands of innocent lives, as well as the future of the Yemeni people.

Moscow says it won’t allow US to silence UNSC on Israeli violence against Palestinians Monitoring Desk: Russian envoy in United Nations Vasily Nebenzya said that the UN Security Council should bring peace, stability and prosperity to the Middle East and Russia would not allow United States to silence UNSC over the issue of Gaza crisis. According to TASS news Agency, Nebenzya said that Moscow will continue to call for an end to violence against Palestinians and will not allow the US to muzzle the UN Security Council as Washington seeks to support Israel's operation in Gaza. "We will continue to stand firmly for ending violence against the Palestinians. Without a shadow of a doubt, we will continue to expose the abuses and sanctimony with which the US is handling the situation. We will not allow the Americans to gag the entire council with their hands in an effort to encourage further continuation of Israel's ruthless operation," he said in a speech at the Security Council.
