KashmirKashmir Bleeds: Over 11,000 women gang-raped in Indian Occupied Kashmir since 1989

MONITORING DESK: More than 11,200 women were subjected to gang-rape and molestation in Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IOJ&K) from January 1989 till June 30, 2020, indicating the worst state of oppression, innocent Kashmiris have gone through since decades under the Indian illegal occupation.

The data was compiled by the Kashmir Media Service (KMS) and duly verified by the Indian Human Rights Organizations.

The Indian forces’ persecution and brutalities in IOJ&K didn’t confine to just gang-rape of women rather extra-judicial and custodial killings of innocent Kashmiris also left nearly 23,000 women widowed and nearly 107,800 children orphaned from January 1989 till June 30, 2020.Kashmiri Women - More than 11,200 women were subjected to gang-rape and molestation in Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IOJ&K) from January 1989 till June 30, 2020, indicating the worst state of oppression, innocent Kashmiris have gone through since decades under the Indian illegal occupation. Irrespective of the fact that 21,247 Kashmiris have also been infected by the COVID-19 pandemic and 371 of them have lost their lives while battling against it in addition to unprecedented restrictions imposed in the valley for the last one year, the Indian forces showed no mercy towards Kashmiri women. Even in June 2020, three Kashmiri women were gang-raped and two were widowed by the Indian forces. It’s worth noting that it’s been 361 days since India repealed the Kashmiri’s Special Status which ushered in a new era of subjugation and brutalization of innocent people in IOJ&K. Recently when just a few days were left for Kashmiri Muslims to Celebrate Eid Ul Azha, the Indian authorities barred them from offering Eid Prayers at mosques in the valley, showing disrespect to their religious sentiments.
