ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that Pakistan welcomes the conclusion of the landmark Riyadh agreement as a result of the initiative taken by the Saudi leadership and support by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) government.

“We believe it is a crucial and important step forward towards a political solution and durable peace & security in Yemen,” the prime minister said in a twitter message on Wednesday.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Yemeni government and UAE-backed southern separatists – Southern Transitional Council (STC) – signed a power-sharing deal in Riyadh to end civil war in the Country.

The Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman announced the Riyadh agreement, and described it as a crucial step towards a political solution to end Yemen’s bloody four-year war.Pakistan welcomes signing of Riyadh agreement

“This agreement will open a new period of stability in Yemen. The kingdom of Saudi Arabia stands with you,” the Saudi Crown Prince said at the Signing Ceremony of the deal in Riyadh.

Besides the Saudi Crown Prince, the Signing Ceremony was also attended by Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Yemeni President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi, President of the STC Aidarus al-Zoubaidi alongside other Arab and Western officials and ambassadors.
