ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Ajmal Khan Wazir, a Spokesperson of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government and an Advisor to the Chief Minister KP, made it clear that the incumbent provincial government will leave no stone unturned to develop the long-deprived merged tribal districts.
He said that the Prime Minister Imran Khan and Chief Minister KP Mehmood Khan gave special significance and priority to the development of the long-neglected trouble-hit to areas.
Ajmal expressed these views while speaking to a public gathering after inauguration various projects in the scenic valley Teshil Shakai, district South Waziristan.
During his visit to Shakai, he inaugurated Shakai tehsil and Shakti tehsil and laid foundation stone of Shakai Stadium and Shakai Rest House.
He said that in such a short time, the approval of tehsils and other developmental projects in Wazir and Mehsud areas of South Wazirist district indicated the government’s seriousness to develop the trouble-hit Waziristan district.
He said that the present government made all out-efforts to bring the backward areas of the erstwhile FATA at par to the rest of the province.
The scenic Shakai valley has various tourist spots and if they were developed and the government gave them proper attention, the area could lure large number of tourists, which would not only change the fate of the local people but could become a good source of revenue generation for the government as well.
It is pertinent to mention here that South Waziristan District was previously subdivided into eight tehsils i.e., Birmil Tehsil; Ladha Tehsil; Makin Tehsil; Sararogha Tehsil; Serwekai Tehsil; Tiarza Tehsil; Toi Khulla Tehsil and Wana Tehsil.
However, with the addition to two new tehsils Shakai and Shakti, now the count reached to ten due to which the affairs of the widely-scattered district would be run in more affective and better manner.
The local termed it a significant development and demanded of the government to speed up the process and provided all the facilities required for a tehsil administration forthwith so as to ease the woes of the masses.
The dwellers thanked Ajmal Khan for formal inauguration of Shakai as a tehsil, which was one of the core demands of the residents of the scenic valley, as in the past, it was announced a number of time that Shakai was given a tehsil status; but nothing was done in reality.
In addition, during the last few months, situation in Shakai valley is quite tension due to the land dispute between to two tribes Sperkai and Khujel-Khel, who often used heavy weapons against each other positions during which several people were injured.
Ajmal Khan, who also hails from the area, met elders of both the tribes to resolve the dispute amicably, as various rounds of Jirga held but they failed to make any breakthrough.
The residents often complained of the alleged silence of the local administration and provincial government to settle the dispute.
They raised the issue at various forums but except the local Jirga, no other institutes played any role in this regard.
They commended Ajmal Khan for his interference and demanded to build a pressure on both tribes to find out amicable solution to the long-pending dispute, which could cause great human catastrophe.
