ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Zubair Mahmood Hayat has said that Pakistan has always let the peace to prevail in the region and voiced willingness to initiate dialogue with India but New Delhi responded with aggression.

In his address at a Conference on “Kashmir: Heaven in Ashes” organized by the Center for Global & Strategic Studies (CGSS) in Islamabad on Thursday, the CJCSC said that Pakistan will never fall prey to India’s heinous designs, and will always response in a befitting manner.

General Zubair Hayat said that Pakistan and India have fought four wars on Kashmir, which is a reflective of how important is to resolve the longstanding Kashmir issue for regional peace and stability. He said that Kashmir lies at the heart of all issues of South Asia.

The CJCSC said that the importance of rule of law, justice, freedom, liberty, human rights and human dignity are taught at the international level as core requirements but unfortunately today what is going on in the Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK) defies all basic norms and values.

Zubair Mahmood Hayat said that Kashmiris have the right to live but this right is being denied by India. He said that innocent Kashmiris are facing brutalities and a purge in the Occupied Valley.

In his speech on “Policy Options for Pakistan to Counter Indian Aggression: Way Towards Peace” at the Conference, the Member National Assembly and the Chairman of the Special Committee on Kashmir Syed Fakhar Imam spelled out the history of partition.

Fakhar Imam said that the Radcliffe Award was injustice which consequently created the Kashmir problem. He said that the partition plan will not be completed unless the Kashmir issue is not resolved.

The lawmaker emphasized that Pakistan requires more efforts to accelerate in the economic sphere etc if it wants its voices be heard by the World Community.
