ISLAMABAD: Secretary Election Commission Ishtiak Ahmed said special measures have been taken to conduct free‚ fair and transparent elections.

Speaking at a mock polling exercise conducted by the Election Commission in Islamabad‚ he said Presiding Officers will open sealed bags of election material on May 11th in front of polling agents and election staff.

He said polling agents having authority letters will be allowed only to sit in the polling stations.

Secretary Election Commission said Presiding Officers will distribute polling material and ensure maintenance of law and order.

He said electoral rolls having photo of each voter and finger print have been provided to the polling staff.

Ishtiak Ahmed said strict action will be taken against those trying to cast bogus vote.

He said Presiding Officers have been given powers of first class magistrate and trained properly.

He reminded the voters to bring their original computerized identity card for casting vote
