TASHKENT, Uzbekistan: The Embassy of Pakistan in Tashkent celebrated flag-hoisting ceremony of Country’s 73rd Independence Day on Wednesday (August 14, 2019) with great zeal and enthusiasm.

Ambassador Dr Irfan Yusuf Shami hoisted the national flag on tune of national anthem in the present of a large number of Pakistani community members, Embassy officials and prominent Uzbek citizens.

Later, the ambassador read out message of honourable President Dr Arif Alvi and Honorable Prime Minister Imran Khan.

In his remarks, the ambassador highlighted the importance of Independence Day and recalled sacrifices of our ancestors to achieve independence. He also informed that Pakistan’s contribution towards international peace and security had been widely recognized and appreciated by world at large.

Appreciating efforts of leadership of both countries to further develop diplomatic relations between and Uzbekistan, he thanked Pakistani Diaspora and Uzbek nationals for their active role. He also appreciated contributions of both communities in expanding economic relations.

In accordance with prime minister’s directive, the ambassador particularly draw attention to the ongoing serious developments in Indian Occupied Jammu & Kashmir. He urged the community to sincerely pray for our Kashmiri brethren and to disseminate information amongst their Uzbek acquaintances.

According to TASS news Agency, Nebenzya said that Moscow will continue to call for an end to violence against Palestinians and will not allow the US to muzzle the UN Security Council as Washington seeks to support Israel's operation in Gaza. "We will continue to stand firmly for ending violence against the Palestinians. Without a shadow of a doubt, we will continue to expose the abuses and sanctimony with which the US is handling the situation. We will not allow the Americans to gag the entire council with their hands in an effort to encourage further continuation of Israel's ruthless operation," he said in a speech at the Security Council.
