ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Friday said the upcoming visit of Prime Minister Imran Khan to the United States would further strengthen bilateral ties between Pakistan and the US, the Dispatch News Desk (DND) news agency reported.

Prime Minister Imran Khan will visit the United States on July 21-23, 2019 on the invitation of the US President Donald J. Trump.

The two leaders, during the visit, would have wide-ranging interaction at the White House in Washington on July 22 covering bilateral and regional matters.

Talking to the Charge d’ Affaires of the US Embassy Paul Jones in Islamabad today, Shah Mahmood Qureshi discussed matters of mutual interest including the upcoming visit of Prime Minister Imran Khan to the United States, Pak-US relations, and the Afghan peace process.

The foreign minister said Pakistan would continue playing its reconciliatory role in the Afghan peace process under collective responsibility.

In the meeting, both sides agreed to continue cooperation on the Afghan peace process, fortifying Pak-US bilateral relations and achieving shared objectives in the region.

During his stay in Washington, Imran Khan will also meet prominent members of the US Congress, corporate leaders and opinion makers as well as members of the Pakistani diaspora.
