BAKU, Azerbaijan: A Top Official at the Russian Interior Ministry has said that the terror outfit Islamic state of Iraq and Levant (ISIL) has now shifted its interests to Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Armenia.

“After the defeat in Syria and Iraq, the terrorist group ISIL shifts interests to the territory of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Armenia,” the Chief of the General Administration for Combating Extremism of the Russian Interior Ministry Oleg V. Ilyinykh was quoted as saying by Azerbaijan’s Report News Agency at the Second International Research-To-Practice Conference on Priorities of International Cooperation in Countering Extremism and Terrorism.

The Conference was held at the Moscow University of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia named after V.YA. Kikot.

Oleg Ilyin said that the leaders of the banned group “Islamic State” in Russia are hatching plans to form a global terrorist network, sleeping cells that would demonstrate the ability to carry out terrorist attacks around the world.

“The strategic defeat of the Caliphate in Syria and Iraq leads the shift of the interests of Islamic state to the territory of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia,” Oleg Ilyin said.
