ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Saudi Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Adel al-Jubeir has said that Saudi Arabia wants to see Pakistan as an economically stable country.

In a Joint News Conference in Islamabad on Monday along with his Pakistani Counterpart Shah Mahmood Qureshi, the Saudi foreign minister said that we want to participate in Pakistan’s economic growth and share the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan to take his country to new heights.

Adel al-Jubeir said that our investment in Pakistan is not charity and it is for mutual benefit of both the countries and their people. He said that an oil refinery will be set up at a cost of US $10 billion in Gwadar.

Replying to a question, the Saudi foreign minister said that terrorism is a common enemy and Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and United States are working jointly to eradicate this menace.

Adel al-Jubeir said that we are working with Pakistan in order to reach reconciliation between Taliban and the Afghan government to move forward. He said that Saudi Arabia wants peaceful solution of Afghan crisis.

Talking about Pakistan-India relations, Adel al-Jubeir said that we want both countries to resolve their conflicts and have peaceful relations.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that Saudi Arabia will invest US $20 billion in various sectors of Pakistan.

The foreign minister said that seven memorandum of understandings (MoUs) have been signed with the Saudi side and more will be signed soon.

The foreign minister said that it has been decide to set up a Supreme Consultative Coordination Council to ensure structured institutionalized mechanism with regard to the implementation of MoUs. He said that the Council will make action plan and oversee progress on the implementation of the MoUs.

Qureshi said that the senior Leadership of both Pakistan and Saudi Arabia will meet at least once a year to review the progress on these matters.

To a question, Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that Pakistan respects the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Iran.
