ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Security has been placed on high alert in Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) on the eve of New Year, and a ban has been imposed on one wheeling and display of weapons.

Today midnight will bid adieu to 2018 and mark the arrival of New Year 2019; therefore, as per precautionary measures, certain security initiatives have already been taken to avoid any untoward incident and there is also a possibly of New Year Night Celebrations.

However the Celebrations may also feature one wheeling, aerial firing, and display of weapons, fireworks & crackers. Therefore, the Islamabad administration has imposed a ban on aforesaid activities in the Federal Capital.

In addition to that, other security measures have also been taken. All entrance and exit of Islamabad will be checked on New Year Night while all sensitive areas and markets will be under extra security.

Throughout the Islamabad district, 1000 police personnel and officers have been deputed on security. Special Check Posts have been erected and no vehicles and motorcycles with documents are being allowed to enter Islamabad.

Meanwhile the Rawalpindi police has also decided to deploy as many as 4,000 armed policemen across the City to maintain security on New Year’s Eve.

Likewise, one wheeling and other stunts have also been banned in Rawalpindi City for the night.
