National3441 persons working on daily wages in Utility Stores Corporation, Senate told

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Senate was informed on Friday that presently 3441 persons are working on daily wages basis in the Utility Stores Corporation (USC).

In a written reply to a question by the Senator Mian Muhammad Ateeq Shaikh, the Minister for Industries and Production told the Upper House that in its 146th meeting held on October 25, 2018, the USC Board of Directors directed the management to scrutinize all the cases of contract and daily wages employees ensuring fulfillment of requisite criteria and codal formalities for submission to the Government for policy decision.

The minister told that the case for regularization of Contractual as well as daily wages employees of Utility Stores Corporation has been received in Ministry of Industries & Production which will shortly be referred to Establishment Division for policy decision of the government.

In reply to another question by Senator Mushtaq Ahmed, the Minister for Finance Asad Umar told that House that the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has categorically rejected reports circulated in print and electronic media regarding hacking of Pakistani Banks’ data through their Press Release issued on November 06, 2018.

Asad Umar said that the SBP clarifies that, except for one, no evidence of banks data being hacked was provided by any bank or law enforcement agencies (LEAs) to the Central Bank. However, a Pakistani bank faced a cyber-attack resulting in cash out through international ATMs on October 27, 2018.

Meanwhile, the Senate resumed its Session at the Parliament House in Islamabad on Friday morning to discuss besides legislative business, matters of national and international importance.
