ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan on Monday reiterated its commitment to peace and reconciliation in Afghanistan as the US Officials and the Taliban are meeting in United Arab Emirates (UAE) today to find a way out of bringing the war-torn Country to the stability.

In a twitter message, the Foreign Office Spokesperson Dr Mohammad Faisal expressed the hope that UAE talks will end bloodshed in Afghanistan and bring peace to the region.

“Alongwith with international community and other stakeholders, Pakistan is commited to peace and reconciliation in Afghanistan. Talks are being held in UAE. We hope this will end bloodshed in Afghanistan and bring peace to the region,” Dr Faisal tweeted.

The talks are being facilitated by Pakistan, in which the Special Representative for Afghan Reconciliation Zalmay Khalilzad will lead the US Side.

Besides Pakistan, US and Afghan Taliban, representatives of Saudi Arabia and UAE will also take part in the dialogue.

Earlier this month, the US President Donald Trump wrote a letter to Prime Minister Imran Khan, and sought Pakistan’s support and facilitation to resolve the Afghan war.

Prior to it, the US Officials led by Zalmay Khalilzad and the Afghan Tablian have also held at least two meetings in Qatar to reach a political settlement in Afghanistan.
