ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Imran Khan will do break ground at Kartarpur facilities on November 28 for the 550th birth anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak, the Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said on Thursday as per the reports by the Dispatch News Desk (DND) news agency.
“We welcome the Sikh community to Pakistan for this auspicious occasion,” Shah Mahmood Qureshi said.
The foreign minister said that Pakistan has already conveyed to India its decision to open Kartarpur Corridor for Baba Guru Nanak’s 550th birth anniversary.

Meanwhile, the diplomatic sources said that the Indian Foreign Office wrote a letter to the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi, in which it expressed gratitude to Islamabad for opening of Kartarpur Corridor.

The letter states “The Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India presents its compliments to the High Commission for the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in New Delhi and has the honour to refer to the longstanding proposal to create a corridor to facilitate easy and smooth access for Indian pilgrims to visit Gurudwara Kartarpur Sahib in Pakistan, which has been under discussion between the two sides.
The Ministry has the honour to convey that on the occasion of the 550th Prakash Parab of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the Government of India has decided to build and develop ‘Kartarpur Corridor’ from Dera Baba Nanak in Gurdaspur District of India to the International Border.
In this context, the Government of India urges the Government of Pakistan to recognise the sentiments of the Sikh community and to develop a corridor with suitable facilities in its territory from the International Border to Gurudwara Kartarpur Sahib to facilitate easier access and smooth passage of Indian pilgrims throughout the year.
The Ministry of External Affairs avails itself of this opportunity to renew to the High Commission for Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the assurances of its highest consideration.”
