PoliticsPML-N’s politics practically ended; APC meant to seek NRO: Fawad Chaudhry

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Federal Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry has said that the opposition parties are playing the All Parties Conference (APC) card just to seek an NRO (National Reconciliation Ordinance).

Talking to media persons outside the Parliament House in Islamabad on Tuesday, Fawad Chaudhry made it clear that the accountability process would continue without any discrimination and no one would be allowed to get away with his corruption.

The information minister said that politics of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has now practically been ended, and its leaders now just want the withdrawal of cases against them.

The Chief of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) Maulana Fazlur Rehman-convened APC will be held on Wednesday in Islamabad, for which Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has also given its nod of participation.

However, Maulana Fazlur Rehman didn’t succeed to convince the former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to attend the APC.

Nawaz Sharif will meet his brother and President of PML-N Shahbaz Sharif today at the Parliament House, wherein they are expected to reach a consensus about the All Parties Conference.

In reply to a question, Fawad Chaudhry said that the federal government opposes opposition leader Shahbaz Sharif’s appointment as the Chairman Public Accounts Committee (PAC) as he is facing corruption charges and is in custody of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) for interrogation in the Ashiana Housing Scam.

Moscow says it won’t allow US to silence UNSC on Israeli violence against Palestinians Monitoring Desk: Russian envoy in United Nations Vasily Nebenzya said that the UN Security Council should bring peace, stability and prosperity to the Middle East and Russia would not allow United States to silence UNSC over the issue of Gaza crisis. According to TASS news Agency, Nebenzya said that Moscow will continue to call for an end to violence against Palestinians and will not allow the US to muzzle the UN Security Council as Washington seeks to support Israel's operation in Gaza. "We will continue to stand firmly for ending violence against the Palestinians. Without a shadow of a doubt, we will continue to expose the abuses and sanctimony with which the US is handling the situation. We will not allow the Americans to gag the entire council with their hands in an effort to encourage further continuation of Israel's ruthless operation," he said in a speech at the Security Council.
