KABUL, Afghanistan: The Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Saturday underlined the need for joint cooperation between Pakistan and Afghanistan as the two neighboring Countries suffered same challenges.

In a meeting with Afghan Counterpart Salahuddin Rabbani in Kabul after he along with a delegation reached Afghanistan on his first foreign tour for talks with the Afghan leadership on host of issues related to Pak-Afghan relations and regional security, Qureshi said peace was also as much important for Pakistan as it was for Afghanistan.

The foreign minister stressed that both Pakistan and Afghanistan would have to work together to meet the common challenges.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi said there was a great potential to further bolster relations and cooperation between the two Countries.

The Afghan foreign minister said peace in Pakistan and Afghanistan was vital for regional peace. He said his Country desired cordial relations with all the neighboring countries including Pakistan.

The foreign minister also held one-on-one meeting with the Afghan President Ashraf Ghani at the Presidential Palace in Kabul, and discussed bilateral relations as well as the issues pertaining to regional peace and security.

Qureshi was accompanied by the Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua and other officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
