Foreign OfficePakistan FM stresses on need for limiting Islamophobic trends in West

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Friday stressed on the need for raising awareness and limiting the disturbing trend of Islamophobia, incitement to racial and religious hatred, and building bridges among civilizations.

Holding his second telephonic conversation today with the Foreign Minister of the Netherlands Stef Blok this week in which they discussed the announcement by the Dutch Islamophobe parliamentarian Geert Wilders to call off the blasphemous caricature competition, Shah Mahmood Qureshi noted that the timely efforts made by the two governments helped in achieving the desired result.

During the conversation, the two foreign ministers agreed to continue working together on issues of mutual interest.

The Dutch foreign minister reiterated his government’s position of disassociation with Wilder’s activities and assured of continued cooperation.

It is worth mentioning that the far-right Netherlands politician Geert Wilders was forced to cancel the proposed blasphemous caricature competition following a strong protest by the government and people of Pakistan.
