“The Government of Pakistan has decided to release 30 Indian prisoners, including 27 fishermen on 13 August 2018,” said a statement issued by the Foreign Office in Islamabad. “This is a humanitarian gesture to mark Pakistan’s Independence Day on 14 August.”

The statement said that this is in line with Pakistan’s consistent policy of not politicizing humanitarian issues.

“It is our hope that the Indian Side will also reciprocate in a similar manner,” the statement added.

The Nation will Celebrate the Country’s 72nd Independence Day tomorrow with traditional fervor and enthusiasm. Preparations across the Country have reached climax to celebrate the Independence Day in a befitting manner.

On July 30, the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi phoned Pakistan’s Prime Minister in-waiting Imran Khan to felicitate him on his victory in the parliamentary elections, and said that both Countries must adopt a joint strategy to develop and strengthen better ties.
