PoliticsPML-N Senators slam Hasan Askari over his statement favoring PTI

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senators lambasted the Caretaker Chief Minister Punjab Hasan Askari Rizvi in the Upper House on Saturday, over his alleged statement favoring Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in terms of more seats in general elections 2018.

While speaking in the Senator Session, the PML-N leader Senator Pervaiz Rasheed said who had given the authority to the Chief Minister Punjab to deliver the statements regarding less or more seats in the election?

“If this is right, Senate should ask him to resign,” he said.

Pervaiz Rasheed said terrorists were being made parliamentarians while parliamentarians were being made terrorists.

The PML-N Senator said National Accountability Bureau (NAB) served the notice to the PML-N Candidate in NA-54 Islamabad-III Anjum Aqeel Khan just four days before the elections. He said the Chief Elections Commissioner (CEC) Justice (retd) Sardar Muhammad Raza Khan and the Chairman NAB Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal must be summoned and questioned over the issue.

Senator Sadia Abbasi said an Indian Newspaper had published a statement of Hassan Askari in which he had stated that PTI would receive more seats while PML-N would get less seats in upcoming elections.

Sadia Abbasi said Hasan Askari was the Caretaker Chief Minister of Punjab, and those statements clearly showed his agenda. She said the CEC must take the notice on his statement.

Meanwhile, over the demand of PML-N Senators to send Hasan Askari’s statement published in the Indian newspaper to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), the Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani directed to hand over the published news to the Secretariat.

Moscow says it won’t allow US to silence UNSC on Israeli violence against Palestinians Monitoring Desk: Russian envoy in United Nations Vasily Nebenzya said that the UN Security Council should bring peace, stability and prosperity to the Middle East and Russia would not allow United States to silence UNSC over the issue of Gaza crisis. According to TASS news Agency, Nebenzya said that Moscow will continue to call for an end to violence against Palestinians and will not allow the US to muzzle the UN Security Council as Washington seeks to support Israel's operation in Gaza. "We will continue to stand firmly for ending violence against the Palestinians. Without a shadow of a doubt, we will continue to expose the abuses and sanctimony with which the US is handling the situation. We will not allow the Americans to gag the entire council with their hands in an effort to encourage further continuation of Israel's ruthless operation," he said in a speech at the Security Council.
