World10th BRICS summit: South Africa investigates Modi for purging Kashmiri people

Monitoring Desk: As 10th BRICS summit is reaching closer that will be held in Johannesburg, South Africa, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) of South Africa has started investigation against Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his alleged involvement in war crimes and human rights violations in Kashmir.

The action was taken on the official complaint of Muslim Lawyers Association of South Africa lodged with the NPA calling on authorities to arrest Modi when he attends the Brics Summit later this month in Johannesburg.

The National Prosecution Authority (NPA), which is governed by the National Prosecuting Authority Act (Act No. 32 of 1998) of the Constitution, having power to institute criminal proceedings on behalf of the State, to carry out any necessary functions incidental to institution of criminal proceedings and to discontinue criminal proceedings. The NPA is accountable to Parliament, while the final responsibility over the prosecuting authority lies with the Minister of Justice and Correctional Services.

NPA in one of its correspondence with MLA states that it (NPA) contends there is sufficient evidence to establish a case against Modi for alleged extra-judicial murders, rape and other human right violations.

According to Eyewitness News (WN) which is published from Johannesburg, South Africa, NPA is also reviewing report of United Nations that highlights involvement of Modi government in genocide of Kashmiri people living in Indian occupied Kashmir.

It is pertinent to mention that MLA is also preparing requests to submit Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin to take action against Modi government for breaching human rights and purging Kashmiri people. It is pertinent to mention that Xi Jinping, Vladimir Putin and Indian Prime Minister Modi are visiting South Africa for attending 10th Brics Summit next month in Johannesburg, South Africa.
