ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: “Assassination of a journalist cannot suppress the voice of Kashmir”, said renowned journalist and anchorperson Hamid Mir while addressing a Condolence Reference held at the National Press Club (NPC) in Islamabad on Tuesday in the memory of senior Kashmiri journalist Shujaat Bukhari who was martyred in the Indian Occupied Kashmir on June 14.

The 50-year-old editor of “Rising Kashmir” Shujaat Bukhari was martyred along with his bodyguard near his office in Srinagar on June 14 when armed men sprayed bullets on his vehicle.

In the Condolence Conference, the Secretary NPC Shakeel Anjum made the opening remarks and pay homage to Shujaat Bukhari.

Other Speakers included the President Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Sardar Masood Khan, the Foreign Office Spokesman Dr Muhammad Faisal, the Editor Kashmir Post Altaf Bhatt, Senior Anchorperson Hamid Mir, Senior Journalist Nasir Zaidi, Columnist Irshad Mehmood, and Mishal Malik.

The participants were of the view that Shujaat Bukhari was killed because he was raising voice for Kashmiris.

Hamid Mir said that Pakistani politicians are not raising Kashmir issue as they should have been. He said that political parties should highlight Kashmir issue in their manifestos.

The anchorperson said that late Shujaat Bukhari was in a psychological pain before his murder that Kashmiris were being purged but the World is silent.

Hamid Mir said that Kashmir struggle will never stop and Kashmiris will get their freedom whether Pakistan helps or not.

Meanwhile, a presentation was given by the Foreign Office Spokesman Dr Muhammad Faisal about Indian genocide of Kashmiris.

Separately, another presentation was also given about daily newspaper ‘Rising Kashmir’ of late Shujaat Bukhari.

In the end, the President NPC Tariq Mehmood Chaudhry presented the vote of thanks to the participants.
