ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar on Monday said 2018 general elections would be held on time at all costs.

While hearing a petition of workers party in Islamabad, the Chief Justice said the Parliament was a representative institution and it had the right to frame laws.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Officials told the Supreme Court that the election code of conduct had been prepared in consultation with the political parties.

Earlier on Sunday a two-member bench of the Supreme Court headed by Justice Saqib Nisar suspended the Lahore High Court (LHC) verdict on preparation of fresh nomination papers and declared that no delay in general elections would be accepted.

Meanwhile, the ECP today has started the process of receiving nomination papers from candidates for general elections scheduled to be held on July 25. The nomination papers are available in both Urdu and English languages. The fee of the nomination papers is Rs 100.

A Spokesperson of the ECP said the Returning Officers (ROs) were receiving the nomination papers in their respective areas. He said the nomination papers could be filed with the ROs till Friday (June 8).
