ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: In response to strong public reaction, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Wednesday withdrew the nomination of Nasir Khosa for the Caretaker Chief Minister Punjab, and also approved the names of Himayatullah and Ejaz Qureshi for the Caretaker Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The decision was taken when an important meeting of the PTI Central Leadership of was held with the Chairman PTI Imran Khan in the Chair in Islamabad.

It was also decided in the meeting to hold meetings of the PTI Parliamentary Board and kick start the process of issuing tickets to the candidates.

The PTI leadership also deliberated on the strategies to address possible disputes expected to arise as a result of distribution of tickets.

Moreover, the PTI leadership strongly criticized the Punjab government over the irregularities worth Rs 166 billion in the audit report of 56 Companies. The leadership directed Shafqat Mehmood to bring the details of the massive irregularities before the nation.

The PTI leadership also condemned in the strongest terms the last-minute appointments on key slots in Punjab and the Centre by the ruling party.

The PTI termed the appointment of Advocate General Punjab along with 14 law officers, Chairman PEMRA, HEC, PIA, and CAA, reprehensible.

Ali Jahangir Siddiqui’s appointment as Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States was also criticized.

Two Committees to review and analyse the appointments in Punjab, Sindh and the Centre were formed in the meeting. The Committee comprises of leaders including Fawad Chaudhary, Shafqat Mehmood and Babar Awan will look into the appointments made in the Centre and Punjab while the second Committee which includes Dr. Arif Alvi and Liaqat Jatoi will assess the appointments made in Sindh.

The PTI central leadership congratulated the people of FATA for the long-awaited merger into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and also demanded the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to make arrangements and issue date for the elections in FATA at earnest.

It was noted that PTI is all set to contest elections in every nook and corner of the Country.

The Central Additional Secretary General Arshad Daad was directed to make District Level Reconciliation Committees.
