ASTANA, Kazakhstan: The journalists of Pakistan and Kazakhstan have urged media partnership to bridge both the countries at people to people level.

During a roundtable meeting hosted by the state media of Kazakhstan at Central Communications Service here in Astana on Friday, a group of journalists from Pakistan were of the view that flow of information, news and communication among the media outlets of both the countries should be peer to peer to get first hand information and knowledge about news worthy development in both the countries.

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Pakistan to Kazakhstan Abdul Salik Khan briefed the participants the interest of his country in developing cooperation with Kazakhstan in the mediasphere. He was of the opinion that Kazakhstan was a distant neighbour of Pakistan but people of Pakistan place Kazakhstan in their hearts. He suggested that state run media of Kazakhstan– Kazinform International News Agency should establish office in capital city of Pakistan—Islamabad.

Participants of Pakistani delegation were of the view that two nations still have to build bridges in business and trade and there was dire need of media partnership among news agencies, televisions, radios and newspapers of Kazakhstan and Pakistan.

Kazinform reports that a young journalist from Pakistan Muhammad Umer Khan, stated that Pakistani journalists are highly qualified professionals who have risen to prominence both in peacetime and in the process of military operations and contributed to the settlement of problems through media.

Umar was of the opinion that freedom of speech in Pakistan had been established and Pakistan is becoming an increasingly powerful state.

It may be mention that a group of Pakistani media-persons are visiting Kazakhstan for exploring possibilities of media cooperation between the two countries.
