ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The smuggling of illegal weapons has been curtailed in the Country after the start of anti-terror Operations Zarb-e-Azb and Radd-ul-Fasaad, the National Assembly was informed on Friday.

In reply to a question in the Lower House of the Parliament, the Parliamentary Secretary for Interior Dr. Muhammad Afzal Khan Dhandla said that 207 illegal weapons have been confiscated during last year.

The Parliamentary Secretary for Interior further that as many as 48 additional border posts have been constructed on the Pak-Afghan border to curb smuggling.

Earlier in the morning, the National Assembly session started at the Parliament House in Islamabad with recitation of verses from the Holy Quran and Naat. The Deputy Speaker National Assembly Murtaza Javed Abbasi was in the Chair.

The agenda items included Question Hour, Calling Attention Notices and presentation of periodical reports of National Assembly Standing Committees.
