PoliticsKasur incident should not be politicized: Mohsin Ranjha

ISLAMABA, Pakistan: The State Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Mohsin Shahnawaz Ranjha Mohsin Shahnawaz Ranjha on Friday said child abuse cases were not limited to just one province, urging the opponents not to politicize it.

While speaking on the floor of the National House in Islamabad, the minister said child abuse cases were reported all across Pakistan. He said Kasur-like incidents also happened in Dera Ghazi Khan.

Mohsin Ranjha said death penalty should have been awarded to those culprits who were involved in such heinous crime.

“We did legislation after Kasur incident two years back,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Opposition Leader Syed Khursheed Shah said while addressing the Lower House that State weakness was being observed due to incidents involving child abuse.

Khursheed Shah said 720 incidents were happened in the past but action was not taken on a single case. He said Kasur incident was failure of the Punjab government; therefore, now people had become aggressive.

The Opposition Leader said statistics about crime rate in provinces should be presented in the Parliament. He said they needed to produce results other than just resolutions and speeches in child abuse cases.

Earlier, the 51st session of the National Assembly began at the Parliament House with recitation of verses from the Holy Quran. Later the Naat Sharif was recited.

The Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq was in the Chair.

The House offered Fateha for a seven-year-old girl Zainab and former Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) Khalid Shameem Wynne, former Air Marshal Asghar Khan, Army jawans martyred at Line of Control (LoC) and jawans of law enforcement agencies (LEAs) martyred in Quetta.

The Minister of State for Religious Affairs and Inter-Faith Harmony Pir Muhammad Amin Ul Hasnat Shah led the Fateha.
