ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) will hold a first-ever two-day National Conference on Media on December 22-23 to develop press-academia partnership to promote education in the country. 

The theme of the conference will be ‘Post-Modern Times: Challenges and Prospects’ and it will be attended by the eminent media professionals.

According to the chairman of university’s Department of Mass Communication Dr Saqib Riaz, the conference is being arranged on the initiative of the Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Shahid Siddiqui who wishes to develop academic-media linkages to serve the society through educational pursuits.

This is also part of the series of events, being arranged during the last three years to develop media-academia interaction for addressing the socio-economic issues, being faced by the society.

The Vice Chancellor has laid special emphasis on developing interaction and collaborative partnership among the national and international institutions for achieving stipulated targets in the educational sector.

The main goal of the conference is to provide a platform to bring together researchers, academics, policy makers, civil society representatives, and other experts of Media Sciences from all parts of the country.

The conference will make insight into the latest trends of communication and media. It will also discuss theoretical as well as empirical methodologies to help devise appropriate strategies for policy makers so as to find workable solution to address the challenges being faced by our society.

Prospective presenters will be encouraged to submit proposals for oral presentations that offer new research or theoretical contributions in the field of communication and media.

Conference sessions will be chaired by notable Media Scientists and practitioners of the country including Vice Chancellors, Professors, Civil Servants, Eminent Scholars, celebrities and prominent journalists.
