ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan is likely to experience only two seasons in the future if appropriate steps are not be taken to control Smog and other rapid climatic changes mainly due to air pollution.

“Spring season has reduced to 22 days only but if the pollution would not be controlled, it would be completely disappeared from our weather system and Pakistan would experience only summer and winter season like India”, the Spokesman of Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) Dr Hanif said.

He said that air pollution is the main contributor to Smog while other factors also aggregate the problem, which result in expanding every year in our country, he told APP adding that every year winter is also reducing while the summer season is expanding which would affect our climate system.

Dr Hanif said that another major change was observed in the weather pattern of our country is that winter is being divided into two portion, dry winter and wet winter.

“We have observed that the dry winter spell continues till December and rains started in January for past three to four years”, he said.

The Spokesman PMD said that likewise summer starts earlier besides that its intensity is also being increased and if immediate attention has not been paid to this issue, Pakistan would lose beauty of its climate which comprising all four season of Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter.
