NewsITP to ensure smooth traffic flow as protest continues at Faizabad Intersection

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Traffic Malik Matloob Ahmed Tuesday directed Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) to ensure smooth traffic flow in the city as the protest of religious group was continuing at Faizabad Intersection since last week causing massive traffic jam for citizens of twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

He had directed all zonal in-charges to ensure monitoring of the traffic flow and play their role in time to clear traffic jams in various areas.

He said the ITP should perform its duty with dedication and devotion in this situation and warned that no laxity causing inconvenience to road users would be tolerated.

The SSP Traffic appealed the citizens to cooperate with police by following traffic plan issued by the ITP and show patience on roads to avoid any inconvenience.

He also asked to listen to radio services of ITP (FM 92.4) and avoid unnecessary travel towards the federal capital.

The commuters are facing problems to move from one place to another while protestors wielding bamboo sticks are sitting at the various points not allowing traffic to move in the vicinity of Faizabad.

Heavy contingent of police along with Rangers and other law enforcement agencies have been deployed to maintain law and order who are showing maximum restraint and trying to resolve the issue through dialogue.

The roads blocked by the protestors include IJP Road, Islamabad Expressway, Murree Road and service roads and traffic is being diverted towards Chak Shehzad, Lehtrar Road in Islamabad and Double Road in Rawalpindi.
