KARACHI, Pakistan: The Counsel General of Japan in Karachi Toshikazu Isomura on Saturday said around 83 Japan’s Companies were operating in Pakistan, and their number would be increased in the future.

In his address at the first day of two-day event “Hamara Dostana” (Our Friendship) held at Japan Consulate in Karachi on Saturday to celebrate 65-years of Pakistan and Japan diplomatic ties, the Counsel General said both Japan and Pakistan were enjoying a good relationship, and it would further be strengthened.

The Counsel General said the Olympic Games would be held in 2020 in Japan, so he invited the guests to visit the Japan on this occasion.

The event was organised jointly under the banner of Consulate General of Japan in Karachi and Pakistan Japan Cultural Association (PJCA) Sindh.

The Chairman of Pakistan Japan Business Forum Sohail Ahmad said the first business delegation of Japan had visited Pakistan in 1948. He said right now 83 Japan’s Companies were working in Pakistan and more than 12, 000 were working in those Companies. He further said those Japan’s Companies paid Rs 160 billion tax to Pakistan’s government.

The President of JPCA Sadia Rashid said it was a happy occasion that they were celebrating 65-year of diplomatic ties.

On the first day of the event, Kendo performance and Juustsu demonstration took place besides Ikebana and Bonsai Demonstrations.

Kendo is a modern Japanese martial arts which has its origins from swordsmanship. It was the first time that Kendo martial arts was introduce in Karachi. Whereas Jujustu is another form of martial art where one finds a method of close combat while using no weapon to display.

On the second and last day of the two-day event, various activities will be held at the residence of Consul General of Japan in Karachi on Sunday. The final day festivities, a musical performance and dance will take place in which Japanese and Pakistani children will participate, and give performance on Japanese and Pakistani songs.
