Despite having lost five wickets for mere 34 runs in second innings, Sri Lanka still looks dominant over Pakistan in Second Test, considering the latter’s shaky batting lineup and last two days.
Sri Lanka didn’t enforce the follow on the third day of second Test at Dubai even after Pakistan was all out for 262 runs in reply to Sri Lanka’s first innings score of 482.
However, Pakistan stunned the Sri Lankans as it sent half of their batsmen including first innings Centurion Dimuth Karunaratne and in-form Dinesh Chandimal to the pavilion for just 34 runs in second innings.
Wahab Riaz, who once looked extremely pathetic in first innings and lost his run-up consecutively for five times, turned the table this time by picking up three wickets. Yasir Shah, who completed his record five-wicket haul in last innings in his fifth consecutive Tests, also took one wicket along with Muhammad Abbas.
At the moment, Sri Lanka is having a lead of 254 runs with Kusal Mendis at the crease on eight.
Earlier in the first innings, Pakistan crumbled at 262, falling short of 220 runs to level 483, Sri Lanka’s score while batting first. Azhar Ali and Haris Sohail were the two highest scorers for Pakistan with 59 and 56 runs respectively.
From Sri Lanka, Rangana Herath and Dilruwan Perera bagged three wickets each while Suranga Lakmal and Lahiru Gamage also picked up two wickets each.
Meanwhile, Muhammad Amir has suffered an injury, and won’t be able to bowl in the remaining match. He has also been ruled out of five-match ODI series against Sri Lanka. Usman Khan Shinwari will join Pakistani Squad in ODIs as Muhammad Amir’s replacement.
It is worth mentioning here that Sri Lanka is leading the two-match Test series 1-0. It beaten Pakistan by 21 runs in first Test played in Abu Dhabi from September 28 to October 2.
Unlike the first Test, the second Test is a day-night match, first ever between Pakistan and Sri Lanka while the second at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
