ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The federal government has so far imparted skills and technical training to around 100,000 youth across the Country during last year years, the official sources said.

The training was imparted under Prime Minister’s Youth Skill Development Programme while the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) played the supervisory role.

Under the programme, training was imparted in 95 different trades in 340 public and private sector technical and vocational training institutes across the Country.

Likewise apart from imparting training, students were also paid Rs 3,000 stipend per month each.

The official sources said that training was also imparted to students of Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA), and they received additional Rs 1,000 as monthly stipend.

“During training, each student was also paid Rs 3000 stipend each month. FATA students were paid Rs 4000 as stipend per month,” the official sources were quoted as saying by the state-run news agency.

The official sources said that the basic purpose of introducing this programme is to provide training and professional experience to unemployed youth in the country so that they can avail better employment opportunities. They said that the training was imparted in selected demand driven trades.

They said that the programme would enhance employment opportunities, alleviate poverty and provide skilled workforce to large, medium and small scale industry and meet the international labour market needs.
