National102 women skill training centres set up in FATA

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) Development Authority has established 102 Women Skill Training Centres across FATA.

An official source of the Ministry of States and Frontier Regions (SAFRON) told the state-run news agency in Islamabad on Tuesday, around 2,300 female students have so far been enrolled for the six-month course in stitching, knitting and embroidery.

The official said that out of these 102 Women Skill Development centres, 44 are functioning as Government Women Skills Centres under a programme “Establishment of Government Women Skills Development Centres in FATA” and 17,222 females have been trained till date since 2008.

While 32 of Women Centres are functioning in mutual collaboration with Community Based Organisation under the programme “Skilling FATA Through Joint Venture” and 3,755 females have been trained till date since January 2013.

These Training Centres are functioning within tribal areas and some Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camps also have such centres.
