GILGIT, Pakistan: The Gilgit-Skardu road has been blocked for all kinds of traffic due to land sliding at around 11 different locations; however, around five locations have been cleared by Frontier Works Organization (FWO).

Sources said that currently at Shoota, FWO is clearing the road and as per their representative it will take a complete day or two to clear the slide at Shoota as huge rocks and boulders are present on the road.

Reportedly, the land slide at Hanuchal ahead of Shoota is very huge and the slide took away the road towards the river. All tourists visiting Skardu have been diverted towards Gilgit.

Locals who want to go on foot voluntarily will be allowed to go on buses till Makpundas and from there they can go on foot. The magistrate and Station House Officer (SHO) will take the convoy till Makpundas and from there people can go on foot if they desires so.

As per the representative of FWO, it will take a week or more to clear the complete route.

No casualties have been reported anywhere.
