Maryam Nawaz to appear before JIT on July 5

Islamabad, Pakistan: Maryam Nawaz who is daughter of Pakistani prime minister has been directed to appear before the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) for questioning in Panama Papers Leaks investigation.

According to reports appeared on private television channels on Tuesday, JIT has also asked both sons of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to reappear for further investigations. PM Nawaz has two sons and one daughter.

Considered as political heir of Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz has been asked to appear before JIT on July 5, 2017.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his cabinet members have expressed concerns over modus operandi of investigation conducted by JIT.

JIT had already questioned Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, his two sons and his brother Shebaz Sharif who is Chief Minister of province of Punjab. JIT also questioned husband of Maryam Nawaz Capt (retd) Muhammad Safdar.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and important members of his federal cabinet are calling investigation conducted by JIT as a kind of “Mazaak” (Mockery) while opposition parties are supporting investigation process.

JIT has also re-summoned Hussain Nawaz on July 4 and Hasan Nawaz on July 3. Hussain Nawaz has appeared five times before the JIT whereas Hasan Nawaz has been summoned twice.

It may be mentioned that the JIT was formed on May 6, 2017 under the direction of Supreme Court for investigating Panama Papers Leaks case and JIT was given 60 days to complete its investigation and submit report to Supreme Court of Pakistan.
