ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Eidul Fitr is likely to be celebrated across Pakistan on June 26 (Monday), marking the beginning of Shawwal and the end of Holy Month of Ramazan following 29-day fasting.

In a statement, the Pakistan Meteorological Department has predicted the sighting of moon of the Islamic month of Shawwal, 1438 A.H. (After Hijra) on the evening of June 25, 2017 (Sunday).

The Pakistan Meteorological Department said that the new moon of Shawwal would be born on crossing conjunction point at 07-31 PST (Pakistan Standard Time) on 24-06-2017 which would be visible on the evening on June 25.

Meanwhile, it is expected to be fair and partly cloudy weather in most parts of the Country on Eidul Fitr.

It is pertinent to mention here that last year as well, Muslims across Pakistan observed 29 days of fasting after Shawwal moon was sighted on July 05.

However, the formal announcement regarding the Shawwal moon sighting would be made by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee which would meet on June 25, 2017 for sighting the moon.

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee meeting would be held at Administrator (Auqaf) Office in Peshawar.

Likewise, the meetings of Zonal and District Ruet-e-Hilal Committees would also be held at their respective headquarters at the same time.

The Interior Ministry has already announced three-day holidays for Eidul Fitr on June 26, 27 and 28.

Meanwhile, a number of Muslims started observing “Aetkaf” in various mosques across the Country on Friday for next 10 days as Holy Month of Ramazan entered its last Ashra.
