Sports‘No cricket with Pakistan’, says Indian Sports Minister

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Indian Sports Minister Vijay Goel on Monday ruled out the possibility of any bilateral cricket series between Pakistan and India in near future, saying terrorism and cricket cannot go hand in hand.

“No cricket with Pakistan,” Vijay Goel was quoted as saying while talking to Indian media in New Delhi.

Vijay Goel said that India and Pakistan can’t play bilateral series till the terror from Pakistan remains.

His statement came as officials of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) are set to meet in Dubai today to discuss issues surfaced after the BCCI refused to play the bilateral series with Pakistan, violating an agreement signed between the two Sides in this regard in 2014.

The Indian Sports Minister further said that the BCCI should consult the Indian government before holding a meeting with the PCB on bilateral series.

The Chairman PCB Shaharyar Khan, the Chairman Pakistan Super League (PCB) Najam Sethi and the Chief Operating Officer Subhan Ahmed will attend the meeting with the BCCI in Dubai.

Talking to newsmen in Lahore on Monday, Shaharyar Khan said that Pakistan and India had signed an agreement to play different cricket series from 2014 to 2023 but India has backed out.

The Chairman PSL Najam Sethi also said that we demand India to give compensation for the losses, PCB had to suffer after BCCI didn’t comply with the agreement signed between the two Sides. Najam Sethi also reiterated Pakistan’s desire to play with India.
