NewsPakistan media claims removal of Tariq Fatemi, Rao Tehsin

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has approved the removal of his Special Assistant on Foreign Affairs Syed Tariq Fatemi and Principal information Officer Rao (PIO) Rao Tehsin Ali Khan after they were found responsible in Dawn Leaks, according to media reports.

The media reports said that following the completion of an investigation into Dawn Leaks by a Commission headed by Justice (retd) Aamir Raza, the inquiry report was submitted to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday.

The Commission, according to media reports, recommended to remove the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Syed Tariq Fatemi and the PIO Rao Tehsin Ali Khan as per the finding of its investigation into the matter.

However, Tariq Fatemi has reportedly refused to tender his resignation after he met with the prime minister today, saying that he has no links with Dawn Story.

Moreover, media reports said that Dawn leaks Inquiry Report will be released within next 24 to 48 hours.

Meanwhile, the federal government decided to take action against people involved in Dawn leaks. The action will be taken in the light of the report prepared by the Dawn Leaks Investigation Commission, reports said adding that in the first phase, action is expected against Tariq Fatemi.

Meanwhile, the Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan met the prime minister in Islamabad today and briefed him about Dawn leaks investigation report. The interior minister took the prime minister into confidence on the investigation report.

The issue of Dawn Leaks surfaced in October last year after Dawn News’ reporter Cyril Almeida disclosed some highly sensitive information about a high-level security meeting in his Story titled “Act against militants or face international isolation, civilians tell military” published in the newspaper.

Following the Dawn Story, Pervez Rasheed was asked to tender his resignation as the Information Minister over negligence committed on his part while an Inquiry Committee headed by Justice (retd) Aamir Raza was formed to probe the Dawn Leaks.
