PESHAWAR, Pakistan: Three Frontier Corps (FC) personnel were martyred when an improvised explosive device (IED) went off in South Waziristan on Monday.

The political administration said that the blast took place in Zarmilan area of South Waziristan where a planted IED struck the FC personnel on motorbikes.

“3 FC soldiers who were critically injured last night in an IED blast during cordon and search operation in Zarmilan, South Waziristan Agency embraced shahadat,” the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Major General Asif Ghafoor said.

In a statement, the Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan paid rich tribute to the sacrifices of FC personnel.

The interior minister also expressed his heartfelt sympathies to the family and relatives of the martyr.

Separately, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra also condemned the bomb blast in South Waziristan.

“War against terrorism will continue till elimination of all terrorists,” the governor said.

2 killed in Orakzai agency

Meanwhile, two persons were killed and two injured in a firing incident in Sheikhan area of the Orakzai agency.

The political administration said that tribesmen were coming from a Jirga when their vehicle was attacked in Sheikhan area. The attackers fled the scene.
