ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Federal Minister for Science and Technology Rana Tanveer Hussain and the Belarusian Ambassador in Pakistan Andrei Ermolovich on Tuesday discussed scope of increasing bilateral trade and overall collaboration in science and technology.

Talking to the ambassador in the meeting held in Islamabad, Rana Tanveer appreciated Belarusian technology and machinery while issue of long detour to Minsk via Doha or Abu Dhabi was also discussed.

The ambassador conveyed warm wishes from Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus to the minister for the hospitality during his visit to Islamabad earlier this month.

The expected dates for holding next Joint Commission on Science and Technology to be held in Minsk in 2017 were also discussed during the meeting. Moreover, the progress on mutual collaboration between CIIT and Belarusian counterpart were also came under discussion.

The Belarusian envoy also conveyed interest in Pakistan National Accreditation Council (PNAC) and Pakistan Standard Quality Control Authority (PSQCA) visit to Minsk for mutual collaboration on standards, quality and accreditation.

On the occasion, the Secretary Science and Technology Fazal Abbas Maken assured the Ambassador that after discussing arrangements of desired meetings with the organizations concerned will be conveyed to him within next ten working days.
