RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif on Thursday confirmed death sentences awarded to another 10 hardcore terrorists, said a press release issued by the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The ISPR said that the convicts were involved in heinous offences related to terrorism including killing of innocent civilians, polio workers, non-governmental organization (NGO) employees, police officials and Armed Forces personnel. Fire-arms and explosives were also recovered from their possession.

These convicts were tried by military courts.

Detail of each convict is mentioned below:

  1. Muhammad Shahid Omar S/O Zaman Khan: The convict was an active member of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). He was involved in killing of two female workers of polio vaccination team, 11 employees of a NGO and several civilians. He was also involved in attacking Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) which resulted in death and injuries to police official and soldiers. The convict admitted his offences before the Magistrate and the trial court. He was awarded death sentence.
  2. Hussain Shah S/O Fazal-e-Hadi: The convict was an active member of TTP. He was involved in attacking Armed Forces of Pakistan which resulted in death of Major Mustafa, Captain Waseem, several soldiers and injuries to many other soldiers. The convict admitted his offences before the Magistrate and the trial court. He was awarded death sentence.
  3. Zafar Iqbal S/O Muhammad Khan: An active member of TTP, the convict was involved in attacking Law Enforcement Agencies which resulted in death of Subiadar Awal Khan, Naik Azmat Ullah of Frontier Constabulary (FC) and injuries to ASI of police Chanar Gul and Sepoy Shafique of FC. The convict was also in possession of fire arms and explosives. He admitted his offences before the Magistrate and the trial court. He was awarded death sentence.
  4. Anwer Zeb S/O Tootkay: The convict was an active member of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan and was involved in abduction of Lieutenant Colonel (retd) Khaqqan Afzal, slaughtering of SI (retd) Umar Ghani and killing of a civilian. He was also in possession of fire-arms and explosives. The convict admitted his offences before the Magistrate and the trial court. He was awarded death sentence.
  5. Obaid ur Rehman S/O Fazal Hadi: The convict was an active member of TTP and was involved in killing of innocent civilians. He was also in possession of explosives. The convict admitted his offences before the Magistrate and the trial court. He was awarded death sentence.
  6. Sher Alam S/O Hanif ur Rehman: An active member of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, the convict was involved in attacking LEAs and killing of civilians. He was also in possession of fire-arms and explosives. The convict admitted his offences before the Magistrate and the trial court. He was awarded death sentence.
  7. Atta Ullah S/O Muhammad Sultan, Mushtaq Khan S/O Saeed Gul and Asghar Khan S/O Nadar Khan: These three convicts were active members of TTP. They were involved in attacking LEAs resulted in death of several soldiers and injures to Captain Asif. They were also in possession of fire-arms and explosives. The convicts admitted their offences before the Magistrate and the trial court. They were awarded death sentence.
  8. Shams ul Qamar S/O Sha Gulbar: The convict was an active member of TTP. He was involved in attacking LEAs which resulted in death of police officials and injuries to civilians. The convict admitted his offences before the Magistrate and the trial court. He was awarded death sentence.
