ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said that we will make relentless efforts to highlight the plight of Kashmiris at every international fora with the support of my colleagues from other parties in the Parliament.

“Kashmiris and Pakistanis are inseparable,” the prime minister said while presiding over the parliamentary leaders’ meeting in Islamabad on Monday, convened in the backdrop of Indian provocation both at the Line of Control (LoC) and the diplomatic front.

The prime minister said that we stand United on matters of such national importance, particularly for the Kashmir Cause.

“I believe that Kashmiri movement cannot be suppressed by the Indian brutalities anymore,” he said.

Nawaz Sharif said that Kashmiris’ struggle for their right to self-determination is legitimate and United Nations Security Council mandated.

PPP suggests establishment of Parliamentary Committee on National Security

In his remarks, the Chairman Pakistan Peoples’s Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that despite differences with government on multiple issues, his party stands shoulder to shoulder with it on Kashmir issue and the Indian aggression.

Bilawal said that this is a turning point in Indo-Pak relations. He said that a united Pakistan can counter Indian aggression, adding that by working together we can achieve our national security goals.

The PPP Chairman said that there is no military solution to the Kashmir dispute.

The Opposition Leader in National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah said that on national issues, we all are same Pakistanis beyond party affiliations. He said that we have always endeavored to evolve consensus on important national issues. He said that today’s meeting demonstrates that all political parties are at the same page.

Khursheed Shah said that we need to proactively and aggressively activate our foreign Missions. He said that we have to enlist the support of Muslim countries and unite them for fighting the Kashmir cause.

“We are immensely resilient nation,” he said that adding that PPP suggests establishment of Parliamentary Committee on National Security.

The Leader of Opposition in the Senate Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan said that our stance is very clear that Kashmir issue must be resolved as per aspirations of the Kashmiri people.

“We are with the government that Indus water treaty can’t be revoked unilaterally by one country,” he said. “We stand behind the government for a befitting response if India tries to revoke it.”

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that today’s moot conveys a clear message to India and the international community that the country’s political parties are united in their stance on Kashmir dispute.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi appreciated the prime minister’s comprehensive speech at the United Nations saying the present government has taken positive steps regarding improvement in relations with India but regrettably, the other side has not reciprocated.

The PTI leader said that the oppressed Kashmiri people have stood up against the Indian atrocities. He said India understands that there is no military solution to the dispute but still it is resorting to belligerence. He said that Pakistan is not isolated at the diplomatic front. He regretted the postponement of the SAARC Summit.

Qureshi said that Indian statements regarding revocation of Indus Water Treaty are unfortunate.

Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that we need to forge national unity at this critical moment and collective voice and resolve of the entire nation is need of the hour.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that we need to denounce and highlight the brutal state oppression in Indian Occupied Kashmir at political and diplomatic level.

The JUI-F Chief said that the meeting sent a very positive and constructive message the world over. He said that our stance on Kashmir reflects the sentiments of the nation and the people of Indian occupied Kashmir, and it is very principled stance.

Other leaders of Parliamentary Parties including Chief of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Siraj-ul-Haq, Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) leader Kamil Ali Agha and Awami National Party’s (ANP) Ghulam Ahmad Bilour also addressed the meeting.

The prime minister expressed gratitude to the parliamentary leaders for giving their sincere suggestions. He said that some very good advices were put forward which my government will try to implement as much as possible.

Sharif said that the most important thing is that Pakistan is made stronger and the Kashmir Cause is made stronger.
