ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: A new wet spell is likely to hit various parts of the country in the first week of October decreasing the mercury level.

Rain with dust storm is expected in upper parts including upper parts of Malakand, Peshawar, Gilgit-Baltistan, Hazara and Kashmir during Saturday and Sunday.

Senior Meteorologist Farooq Dar told the state-run news agency that there were chances of isolated to scattered rain activity in Sindh and Balochistan on October 3 and 4 while wet spell was also forecasted in Upper Punjab, Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan on October 5 and 6.

Mercury was also likely to drop after this spell, he informed.

In next 24 hours hot and dry weather to prevail in major parts of the country. However, rain-thunderstorm was expected at a few places in Malakand, Hazara divisions and Kashmir.

Weak seasonal low lies over north Balochistan and its adjoining areas. A shallow westerly trough was affecting northern parts of the country.

In last 24 hours weather remained hot and dry in most parts of the country. However, light rain occurred in Murree and Saidu Sharif.

Rainfall recorded during this time span remained Murree, Saidu Sharif 1mm.

Maximum temperatures recorded on Friday were Turbat 42øC, Nokkundi, Dalbandin 41øC, Multan 38øC,  Faisalabad 37øC, Lahore, Peshawar 36øC, Hyderabad, Islamabad 35øC, Karachi, Quetta 34øC, Muzaffarabad, Gilgit 33øC, Chitral 32øC, Kalat 30øC, Dir, Hunza 29øC, Skardu 28øC and Murree 21øC.
