RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif on Wednesday held a meeting with the Chief of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) General Staff General Fang Fenghui after he arrived for a day-long visit in Urumqi, the Capital of China’s northwestern Xinjiang region.

The two generals discussed military to military relations, bilateral security cooperation and all dimension of long-term China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC security), said a press release issued by the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The COAS also held a separate meeting with Party Secretary Xinkiang province Zhang Chun Xian in Urumqi on Wednesday.

During the meeting, they held a discussion over issues related to Pakistan-China bilateral relations and regional security with particular reference to CPEC completion and security.

Later, the COAS flew to witness counter terrorism exercise in Ku’erla (Korla) training base of People Liberation Army (PLA).

Exercise encompassed a very effective neutralization of a terrorists’ base in a remote mountainous region employing all the modern aerial and ground equipment and gadgets.

The COAS appreciated PLA troops for their skills and enhanced abilities to counter all categories of terrorism.

The Army Chiefs of Afghanistan and Tajikistan were also present to witness the exercise.
